How does beard hair transplantation work?
The process of transplanting donor grafts onto the facial area is similar to the standard hair transplantation on the scalp. Donor grafts are usually harvested from the back of the patient's head and implanted to create a beard or moustache. A typical beard transplant takes just 1 day - this is enough to build a dense beard for most patients.
What is the advantage of having a beard transplant with PROFUE?
Traditionally, after being harvested from the donor area, grafts are then implanted into donor channels made using a micro-motor. This is relatively fast, however this method of implantation can leave visible marks on the patient's face in the implantation area. This is because the donor channels created by a micro-motor are too rough and in many cases too large, so marks are left on the skin even after it is completely healed up.
At PROFUE, we do not use micro-motors for implantation. Instead, implantation is done using the Lateral Slit method, which differs from micro-motor implantation. Using this technique of implantation, our surgeon makes tiny incisions on the recipient areas and inserts donor grafts into these incisions. Incisions made using the Lateral Slit technique do not leave any permanent marks on the implantation area. This technique also results in higher density and better graft survivability.
Extraction of donor grafts at our clinic is always done using the FUE method - grafts are extracted individually, without leaving a prolonged scar at the back of the head.
How long until I see the results of a beard transplant?
Following a beard transplant, recovery typically takes about 12-14 days. Scabs left after the procedure will disappear after about 10 days and the remaining redness will gradually subside. Recovery times are very individual.
As is the case with standard hair transplants, final results of a beard transplant will be seen after about 10-12 months. Implanted grafts will initially shed their hairs, however they will then start to produce healthy, strong hairs. You will be able to shave already after 14 days.
